"I am not a medical professional, just a sinusitis sufferer", says Ballenberger. "I
went through two painful sinus operations and was subsequently still having
infections. I was desperate for help", he continued.

After reading a number of books and trying different remedies, Ballenberger finally
came upon a book by Dr. Murray Grossan entitled "The Sinus Cure- 7 Simple Steps".
"The most important step by far was to use pulsating nasal irrigation", said
Ballenberger. "This, along with a couple of normal sinus medications, such as a
steroid spray, keep my sinus problems in check". Instead of 4 or 5 sinus infections
per year and a course of antibiotics each time, Ballenberger has only had 2 or 3
attacks in the past five years or so. "I can now enjoy wine with meals, although
some specialists say sinusitis sufferers must forget about drinking any alcohol. I
can also eat cheese and other dairy products, as well as chocolate, more no-no's for
some doctors", he adds.

The web site includes a collection of articles, about half of which were written by
Ballenberger and which address his personal experiences. Other pertinent articles
are also included. "We'll soon have a blog on the site where people can tell their
own personal stories- what has worked for them and what hasn't, what products they
have tried and the success or failure of those", he adds. Ballenberger points out
that every person's nose is different and different people can have different
problems. There is more than one source of sinus problems. The concept is to offer
a large amount of information that people seeking help can tap into. "Of course
everyone should consult with his or her physician", emphasized Ballenberger. "But
there really is no substitute for educating oneself. I've had two different ENT
specialists, and they were helpful to a degree, but in the end I was really no
better off after each treated me for a significant period, ending with a very
painful operation by each one, neither of which were very effective. After all
that, I was the one left suffering. Self-education is a must", he concluded.

Walt Ballenberger is founder of Postnasaldrip.net, a web site dedicated to providing
information and resources to people who, like himself, suffer from sinusitis. After
two ineffective and painful sinus operations Ballenberger found relief using a
pulsating nasal irrigation system, among other approaches. The site hopes to be a
forum where sinusitis sufferers can share their experiences, including what worked
for them and what did not.
